                                  Steps to Salvation

We have a plan for your salvation. Follow these steps to God.

  Step 1

Read John 3:1-21. To be born again, is to be born from above or to have a spiritual birth: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 KJV (King James Version) This verse can be personalized even further: For God so loved me, that he gave his only begotten Son, that if I believe in him, I should not perish, but I will have everlasting life.

  Step 2

Turn to Romans 3:23. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 (KJV)

1. "All have sinned"-"all" indicates every person in the world has sinned.

2. "To come short of God's glory" is like shooting an arrow at a target and the arrow falls in front of the target. Every person falls short of God's expectations.

   Step 3

Turn to Romans 6:23. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 (KJV) Sin is punished. "The wages of sin is death."

When you work you earn your pay. When you sin, you earn the payment of sin, which is eternal separation from God. "Death" here is a spiritual death. In the phrase “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord", God knew you could not save yourself from sin, so he gave you salvation free through Jesus Christ His Son. In order for a gift to become yours, you have to receive it.

   Step 4

Turn to Romans 5:8. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 (KJV)

God has demonstrated His love for you. The word "commendeth" means "demonstrated". God loved you while you were still a sinner and Christ died for your sins. Jesus bore your sins on the cross and sacrificed His life so you would not have to die for your sins. This is God's gift to you but you must receive Jesus as your Savior.

   Step 5

Turn to Revelation 3:20. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears My voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20 (KJV)

Jesus says to you, "Behold (look), I stand at the door (of your heart), and knock: If any man hears my voice, opens the door, I will come in to him and will sup (eat, live-in fellowship) with him and he with me!"

  1. Get the picture of Jesus knocking at your heart's door, calling you to let him come in and save you from your sin."
  2. To open you heart is to repent of your sins and trust Jesus for your soul's salvation.
  3. You are the only person who can let Jesus come to live in your life."

   Step 6

Turn to Romans 10:9-10. "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness (salvation); and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." -Romans 10:9-10

  1. "To confess" is to acknowledge you are lost in sin and cannot save yourself.
  2. "To confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus" is to verbalize that you believe in Jesus as you own personal Savior who died on the cross and on the third day following his death, God raised him to life-never to die again.

Here is a simple prayer you can pray to verbalize how to ask Jesus to save you:

"Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I cannot save myself. I confess that You died on the cross to save a sinner like me. I ask You to forgive me of my sin, and come into my heart and life and save me. Thank You Jesus for saving me and giving me the gift of and assurance of my salvation."

   Step 7

What to do next.

  1. After you have prayed this prayer, seek a good Bible believing church and contact the Pastor and inform him of your decision of trusting Christ as your Savior. It is important that you follow through with Baptism and connect with a people of faith (church) so you can begin to grow as a new believer.
  2. Be faithful to the church in your attendence through Sunday School, Bible Study and worship. Begin reading your Bible starting in the book of Matthew (the first book of the New Testament). If you do not have a Bible contact us and we will be glad to send one to you.
  3. Thank you for allowing us to share these steps to salvation with you. If you have any questions, please feel to contact us. We would also like to know if you have been saved through the guidance of this page. We would like to add your name to our prayer list (published weekly for the membership), so that we can pray for your continued growth in Christ. Whether you live in our area or you are visiting in our area, please accept this as an invitation to join us for any of our services.

You can experience God's love in your life.
